Every chapter in this book so far has been about something happening right now. This chapter is the library chapter.
I am not going to pretend I've read the entire theoretical literature on propaganda and media. I've read some of it, at different times, often by accident, in the way a working creator reads things — because a friend sent it, or because it was quoted somewhere interesting, or because I was stuck on a problem and the author had already noticed the problem and written something about it. Most of what I know I learned by making things and watching what happened. Some of what I know came from specific books that got me thinking in a different gear.
This chapter is me walking you through those books. Not exhaustively. Not academically. Like showing a friend the shelf in my atelier where the interesting stuff lives, and pulling out the ones that actually mattered.
